The Quilt Index Wiki was created in 2008, as part of an ongoing effort to develop new tools for the Quilt Index.

The wiki currently has three major content areas, based on needs expressed from the quilting and scholarly communities concerning a lack of centralized information about:

  1. state / provincial / international quilt documentation projects (including publication information)
  2. national, state and local oral histories relating to quilts, quiltmakers and quiltmaking
  3. museums, libraries, archives and historical societies that house quilt collections and/or major collections of papers and/or ephemera related to the history of quilting (with separate pages for Michigan, American, Canadian, and international institutions)

Other resources on the Wiki include resources for teachers and lists of quilt and textile related email discussion lists.

The Quilt Index staff group will present on the Quilt Index Wiki at Museums and the Web 2009.
