The History Guide (http://www.historyguide.de/) is a project originally launched by the Goettingen State and University Library in 1995 in an attempt to provide access to scholarly websites and digital texts in History freely available. Over the last years the initiative has been enhanced with the participation of other German institutions including research institutes, subject bibliographies and research libraries. The so-called Network Subject Gateways History focuses on creating on metadata records based on internationally accepted standards and on enabling free access to such scholarly material. Searches can be obtained by browsing geographical, chronological and subject area criteria, thus containing a rich collection of museum-related resources.
